Excitment today was going to the Dinosaur Provincial Park just north of Brooks. (not Drumheller) Museum not so good but outside was awesome!

Blind River

Today was a pretty boring drive. So flat with hardly a bend in the road. Stopped in Moose Jaw to see the moose and then on to Regina. Peggy is from Regina so she wanted to see Lake Wascana and the Parliament buildings. We also went to the cemetery to find the grave site where we will bury Rob and his Dad tomorrow.

Rob’s brother David and Aunt Dixie and Uncle Gary joined up tonight and we had dinner and a few tooooo many drinks. Off to bed !!!

DAY 10 JUNE 2
THUNDER BAY TO WAWA ON
478 kms

Today was finally sunny and 21 degrees.  Still windy though.

Along the road today there were ‘moose night danger’ signs about every km.  They must have a lot of trouble with them in this area.

I missed the turnoff to a provincial park I wanted to see.  Good thing yesterday and today are part of my return trip.  Missed a lot of stuff, mostly because of flooding.

Mennonite Heritage Village Steinbach MB

From above

Poured rain pretty much all the way today. At times very heavy. Still flat landscape out here in Manitoba. Not much excitement on the drive.

Made it to Portage. I lived here 1969-1970 grade 12. Picked up my first husband here. His sister and family still live here.

Came up so quick I used the camera on the Dashcam.  Didn’t have a chance to see if the Mommy was around.

First beach on trip in Ignace ON.  Lake Agimak.

A museum worker thought I should have a pic to show how big he is.

DAY 7 May 30
PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE TO STEINBACH MB
182 kms

A tub boat was all that came through while I was there

The house we rented. We never lived on the base here.

The Terry Fox memorial was awesome.  It was built very close to his final stop when he could go no further.

Out for dinner with extended family.

Day 1 has now come to an end. Rob’s Mom Peggy is travelling with me as far as Regina. After I picked her up in Kelowna, what should have been 40 minutes back to Vernon took us 2 1/2 hours…..accident with no detour. So a very late start.

Cloudy thru the mountains today but only a couple minutes of rain.

Arrived in Calgary without any further incidents!

Dryden's Moose

DAY 5 May 28
AROUND REGINA
51 kms

I had to go out and buy socks and shoes  OMG I can’t believe it.
Gloves will be next if it gets any colder!
Nothing very exciting to post but what a day with the weather!  Going north from Steinbach, it felt like the car was being lifted off the road.  It was somewhat better when I turned east after 24 kms.  Cold, pouring rain and soooo windy all the way to Dryden.
There was a serious water problem along the road today.  Two sightseeing places I wanted to go to had the roads closed because of flooding.
The number of lakes in this part of Ontario is amazing.  Every ½ km was another lake beside the road.
